Junior Linux System Administrator to implement best practice for the management and administration of the companies group production servers.


You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the Systems Administrator.

The candidate is expected to be effective as an individual contributor, team player, and a champion for results and incremental improvement.

Responsibilities

•Implementing and monitoring cloud technologies on a private cloud.

•Deploying and maintaining web services.

•Shared Storage technologies implementations, gluster, gpfs, gfs.

•Monitoring systems via applications, log files and sanity checks.

•Maintaining DNS services and domain names.

•Monitoring network connectivity and firewall activities.

•Monitoring and managing security from external as well as internal vantage point.

•Database maintenance and implementations.

•Backups, monitoring and verifying.

•Internal desktop support functions.

•As in any sysadmin position the role do change and you need to be able to change with it and adapt to the current requirements.


Core competencies

•Strong Linux skill in redhat, centos, xen, ubuntu, etc.

•Install and maintain virtual servers vmware, xenserver, linux kvm.

•Oracle database, maintenance, implementations, monitoring.

•Mysql database, maintenance, implementations, monitoring.

•Postgresql database, maintenance, implementations, monitoring.

•Apache / Tomcat maintenance, implementations, monitoring and performance tuning.

•Comfortable in scripting technologies, bash, perl, php, awk.

•Hardware proficiency, san, nas, blade technologies on any of the main platforms, IBM, SUN, HP.

•Cisco, mikrotik and networking trouble shooting.

•VPN, radius, etc. implementations and maintenance.

•Backup technologies, arcserv, tivoli, legato, etc.

•Comfortable in maintaining Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, desktops.

•Windows 2008 server maintenance and monitoring.

•Pastel, syspro, acpac knowledge beneficial.


Desired Qualifications

•Linux Accredited Certification or relevant 3 year\'s experienced.

•Hardware Accredited Certifications on IBM, SUN or HP would be beneficial.

The company is looking to grow its current technical team with additional staff to work on Java and work directly with our business partners to research, develop and deploy nex tgeneration web applications for high volume transaction environments.

You will work with a team of 3-5 developers that take on new development initiatives and platform enhancements across the site and the associated portfolio of brand properties. You will be responsible for front-end development and client-side interactions using Java Server Pages, HTML, XHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, AJAX/jQuery and other related interactive technologies.

Have used the Java API\'s for XML processing, style sheets and developed solutionsmaking use of Web Services.

A high level of Linux proficiency.

The ability to single handily implement an end-to-end web based system that conforms to the MVC patterns and makes use of some form of storage device.

Experience in mobile development (mobile web-sites, Android, iPhone, BlackBerry) is beneficial.

Desired qualifications

    3 years experience with Java, JSP, HTML, XHTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, JavaScript, AJAX/jQuery and other related interactive technologies.
    1 years experience in e-commerce, retail merchandising/marketing, advertising, product development, e-commerce or related fields.
    Relevant certifications from an accredited institution. (i.e. Java Certification - SCJP,SCJD, SCWCD)
    Experience with Tomcat, Eclipse, CVS, Linux and Oracle DB will be a definite asset
    Degree in Marketing, Visual Communication, Graphic Arts, Computer Science or related area a plus.
